Celebrating its 75th birthday this year, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has delighted fans the world over for over seven decades. It's also been the birthplace of countless footwear icons from the Chuck Taylor to the Air Jordan 1. Amongst the A-list of hardwood-turned-streetwear sneakers is the humble Nike Dunk, and it, along with the NBA, will be celebrating the Association's diamond anniversary with a handful of special team-themed releases, including this NBA x Nike Dunk Low "Knicks" colorway. (Unofficially) honing in on the heavily-supported franchise that is the New York Knicks, the celebratory kicks come clad in the Knickerbockers' signature orange, blue and white, seen here linking with blacks and greys, too. The latter serves the upper layers, quarter overlays, and liners, while the team hues hover of the forefoot (orange) and Swoosh/heel combo (blue) before returning to black and white underfoot. Completing the design are special anniversary tongue tags and diamond-etched dubraes that serve as a nod to the celebratory event.

This offering of the Nike SB Dunk Low features a Red leather base with darker Red suede Swooshes and even a darker hue on the overlays. Designed in collaboration with the Dubai-based retailer, the Frame Skate x Nike Dunk Low SB 'Habibi' dresses the retro silhouette in a mix of white leather and textile, contrasted by red leather overlays and stacked Swooshes, one in black tumbled leather, the other in green corduroy. The sneaker's tongue is similarly doubled up, while the printed laces feature frayed edges for a distressed look. Inside the shoe, a tile print covers the sockliner, accented with mismatched Nike and Frame branding hits.

The Otomo Katsuhiro x Nike SB Dunk Low "Steamboy OST" body is a combination of multiple textures of leather, with the Swoosh and heel trimmed with a suede finish, creating a level of look and texture. This Off-White x Nike Dunk Low is taken from the 'Dear Summer' collection, a sprawling follow-up to Virgil Abloh's first Nike Dunk collaboration from 2019. The low-top makes use of a white leather upper with soft grey suede overlays, along with Virgil Abloh's calling-card flourishes, which include a plastic zip tie and printed Helvetica text. Contrasting pops of color arrive via the sneaker's secondary lacing system, zip-tie, an exposed-foam tongue and a rectangular tab affixed to the Swoosh. Limited to fifty pairs, a '33 of 50' badge is affixed on the lateral midsole.

Concepts and Nike SB are back at it again, with a new iteration of the 'Lobster' inspiration. The Dunk Low Premium SB 'Purple Lobster' is similar to the three previous executions, inspired by odd color specimens found in nature due to genetic abnormalities that make their exoskeleton appear in different shades, such as yellow, blue and purple. Special details include a red and white plaid pattern on the lining, and an elastic band wrapped around the forefoot similar to how lobster claws are secured.

Crafted in partnership with the Athens-based skate shop, the Color Skates x Nike Dunk High SB 'Kebab and Destroy' takes inspiration from a mainstay of Greek cuisine: the gyro. The tan suede upper represents the pita wrap, the white leather toe box symbolizes tzatziki sauce, and the brown elephant-print heel overlay gives the nod to the protein component. Tomato-red accents land on the laces and leather Swoosh. Color Skates' logo adorns the lateral heel of the left shoe, while the right features an embroidered gyro graphic. The same artwork is repeated on the custom insole, featuring Zoom Air cushioning in the heel and accompanying 'All In' text on the left shoe. 'Kebab and Destroy' is printed on the interior tongue tag.

The Dunk Low Pro SB 'Shanghai 2' takes inspiration from a traditional bamboo steamer, highlighted by a faux woven texture on the shoe's leather base and coarse stitch detailing on the quarter panel. The shoe's light brown overlays feature a vintage finish, complete with abrasion marks on the leather surface. An illustrated bowl on the tongue tag tops off the unique design.

The Nike Dunk Low Pro SB 'Safari' borrows a design page from atmos' Air Max 1 collaboration from 2003. Like its predecessor, the build makes use of an orange canvas and suede upper, accented by mismatched orange and green Swooshes on each shoe and Safari-print overlays embroidered with a mini-Swoosh at the lateral forefoot. A grippy gum rubber outsole provides durable traction underfoot.

Taken from a larger City Pack, the Fragment Design x Nike Dunk High 'Beijing' presents a refreshed take on the creative partners' original Dunk High collaboration from 2010. The materials and color palette remain mostly unchanged, but the mismatched design of the original is discarded in favor of traditional color blocking. The high-top carries a leather upper that combines a purple base with contrasting black overlays and a matching black Swoosh. Fragment's signature lighting bolt logo is stamped on the lateral heel, while fine-print branding is inscribed on the white rubber midsole.

In September 2019, New York-based apparel brand Supreme and Nike SB continue their legendary partnership with a special pack of the SB Dunk Low. The North Carolina A&T State x Nike Dunk Low 'Aggies' is designed by Arial Robinson as part of the HBCU-focused Yardrunners Collection. Inspired by the NC A&T Student Center, the low-top utilizes a grey leather upper as a nod to the building's cement façade. The center's staircase is referenced through the shoe's yellow laces - marked with repeating 'AYANTEE' text - and breathable nylon tongue. The latter displays a woven tag featuring the school logo on the exterior side and 'From Greensboro With Love' on the interior side. NC A&T's founding year is embroidered on the heel tab. Underfoot, a translucent rubber outsole reveals a green grass graphic.
