To commemorate Michael Jordan's 1991 iconic 'Like Mike' Gatorade commercial, Nike debuts the Nike Air Jordan 6 Retro NRG in Green Suede. The exterior is outfitted with a bold green, white and orange colorway. It features a sports bottle-inspired lace lock, perforated suede upper and supportive Air unit sole. The sneaker is accented with a Gatorade-branded insole and "If I Could Be" embroidered on the interior of the tongue.

The Air Jordan 6 Retro 'Gatorade' pays tribute to Michael Jordan's 1991 'Be Like Mike' Gatorade commercial. The shoe features the same color blocking as the OG 'Carmine' colorway, with a white leather upper, Gatorade-themed Team Orange accents, and a green lace lock. The spot's slogan – "If I could be" – also hits up the inner tongue. The 'Gatorade' dropped with a 'Green Suede Gatorade' colorway in December 2017.

Released in December 2017, the Air Jordan 6 Retro 'UNC' paid tribute to North Carolina's 2017 NCAA win. The colorway comes with a black nubuck upper with University Blue on the tongue, Jumpman, lacelock, and back pull tab. The shoe also comes with University Blue accents on the midsole and translucent rubber on the outsole.

In 2017 Nike dropped a brand new retro colorway of the Air Jordan 6 sneaker called the 'Chameleon' during the NBA All-Star game. The shoe released alongside similar looking Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 31 All-Star 'Chameleon' sneakers. The Air Jordan 6 All-Star 'Chameleon' received a unique iridescent color treatment over its all-black leather upper, giving the shoe a color-changing effect depending on the light.
